Stone carving of Confucius playing chime stone of Han dynasty

The carving, formerly known as Confucius and Recluse Shouldering a Straw Basket, depicts an anecdote recorded in “The Analects of Confucius” — A recluse shouldering a straw basket walked past Confucius' door when Confucius was playing chime stone, and mocked Confucius for not retiring from the world even though feeling not understood by others. There is a house and eight people in the carving, with Confucius (name inscribed) playing chime stone on the right side, and the recluse standing outside the house and looking back on the left side. Two people sit on Confucius' right, listening. One disciple stands in front of Confucius and one stands behind, and another two kneel in front of him.
