Portrait of the Great Sage

This portrait of Confucius giving lectures was possibly painted by Wu Daozi. The stone carving was commissioned by Kong Duanyou, a 48th-generation descendant of Confucius, in memory of his ancestor after his family moved south and settled in Quzhou. On the back of the stone carving is the image of the Quzhou Confucius Ancestral Temple that could date back to the Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
