Confucius Giving Lectures at the Apricot Altar, from "Stories about Confucius" in the Song Dynasty

This wood carving shows that Confucius is sitting on the altar playing the guqin, a seven-stringed Chinese zither. He is surrounded by his 10 disciples. There is an apricot tree on Confucius' left. The Apricot Altar is said to be in front of the Dacheng Hall of the Confucius Temple in Qufu.
